So here is another sorry story.

Well I have had more failed soap in the past 6 days than my entire time soaping over 300 batches! Gak. It kind of gets to you, but I decided I'd work on it until it somewhat respectable.

Here is the first batch of cp cucumber melon. Wasn't traced well enough or fell out of trace no pics only of the rebatched soap. 170 degree oven in SS pot for 80 minutes check every 20 minutes, stirred at 40 and 60 minutes and poured into mold at 80. No zap ugly color.

Image

Next days new batch, get up on the pony and ride. Pretty soap but forgot the Shea Butter and this batch would be lye heavy.

Image

Into the SS pot with the left behind oil and on the stove top to rebatch. Didn't incorporate well so added a little more water and into the oven. 80 minutes and out comes the batch a little lumpy but workable. While waiting I made a small white batch with different fragrances! LOL Thought I'd add it for contrast and well oops.

Image

Well I think I poured the white batch in too soon and it hadn't traced or perhaps the heat of the oven hot processed blue scared the oil out of the white and left an oil slick. I think the trace didn't hold as you can see a layer of oil at the edge of the mold. It oil slicked up or seperated as they say. But No quiting!

Image

Next tried CPOP's hoping the oil would reintegrate. 170 degrees in oven for 60 minutes. No luck.

So I mix the mess of white and blue together into the SS pot and really mashed it up and mixed it to death and well it looked so sad when I put it into the molds. 2nd failed oil seperation.

While cooking this re-re-do I cut and colored the first failed cucumber soap I had on hand. Cut and colored a few. Threw pieces of the first Cucumber Melon in it for some fun. I think I saved these 3 failed batches that went thru the works! Family and a few friends who live on the edge. Think I'll call it the Phoenix Soap.

Image

What do you think? I think I better start looking at and paying attention to my trace #1 and #2 mark my recipe twice, once when I weigh out ingredients, and once those ingredients are added to the pot!!

Image

Oh and take a break from all things soap for a while until the traveling Gremlins are off!

Oh gosh~ What a disaster you've been through! I don't want the visitor, don't come to my house! I'll have to make a huge sign in my kitchen saying no gremlins allowed!!!

Wow, mella - you've had a time! But, for "failed" soaps - they look lovely!
I don't want the gremlins either. They've already visited me this year.

Eek! :o Sorry for your gremlins, but that's a great recovery! Reminds me a bit of a Klimt or Van Gogh painting or something

Thanks Jenova and Malaliath and SB! It was a self challenge. Honestly I was not going to pursue it any further I was tired!

The gremilins are on their way to Timbuktu!

Here is today's adventures in soaping. Shell Ginger Flower left and Plumaria right a pinky orange color (hope it stays).
Pic later it is still too big the refresh isn't very fast!

I Love the look of wet soap in a mold and your colors are great as well as the textured tops. I also hope the pinky orange color stays for you! So now you can say you beat the gremlins??

well, the gremlins left Mella's house and came to mine. I tried my hand at whipped soap and it didn't whip up enough, so I put it in the mold and walked away feeling defeated. It didn't gel and thought everything was going to work out in the end, but alas, I was wrong. I colored half the soap with pink ultramarine (used it several times in the past) and left the other half white. The pink soap cracked. I mean it looks like the desert! Cracks all over the top, only on the pink though, the uncolored looks fine.
I have no idea what happened, but I left some wine for the gremlins today, so I hope my next batch works out.

Thank you Sweatpea and welcome to teach soap!

Oh no Denver I swore it was headed out to sea. I think that wine glass is a good idea perhaps I'll try that next time! LOL

Susie isn't that a pretty wet bar, well check out this video, that bar ended up with 1/8 inch of ash on it! The second loaf, same batch not a bit. Has to be the fragrance ginger souffle ashes.

Thank you all for hanging in there with me. Here is a lovely batch to make up for all the trials!

Here is a double dare video I made of soaping the first soap after the little beasts left to the west with the wicked witch!

Mella, loved watching the video! The soaps turned out very well... great swirl with the blue and white. That was soooo sweet of your husband to buy the soap cutter for you.... I am truly jealous. Any time you want to do another video I will watch!
