Hi everyone,

Happy Friday to you all!

I am trying to perfect my swirls and have developed a recipe that is very high in olive and uses all liquid oils. As it is, it is slow to trace and is working very well - but the soap is pretty soft and has to sit in the mold for several days before I can get it out and then it sets for a few more before I can cut it. I'd like to try adding sodium lactate in the hopes that it would harden faster. My only concern is if it will make the mixture trace faster and cause problems with my swirls. Does anyone have any experience with this type of situation?

Your help is greatly appreciated! I have never used sodium lactate and just don't know how it will behave. Thanks!

I use about 1% in my cooled off lye water in every batch. I have had no problems with acceleration.

another thought - can you mix both sodium lactate and liquid silk into the lye water? Would that even make sense to do?

What is this liquid silk? Is it a natural product or is it synthetic?
