I got a request/idea from one of my testers over the weekend -- she's an art student, and she'd love something to help remove ink and paint from her hands. She says that currently she has to use a really abrasive scrubbing sponge to help clean up as is, so she'd be interested in a soap that wouldn't be quite so abusive (some abrasion is good, probably necessary, but not *too* much).

Are there particular additives that might help out with this? Especially non-exfoliants? :?:

I don't know about non-exfoliants that would take off paint in soap. You could try pumice, but it is abrasive.

I read somewhere that another soap maker uses Turps in her mechanics soap which she said printers had also used with really good results. It wouldn't be abrasive and I believe you can get Turps without a smell from art supply shops.

Thanks, soapbuddy and busybee! I think a little pumice or cornmeal or something might be called for, just not an over the top amount.

Turpentine, eh? That led to a couple of interesting recipe ideas... one supplemented with orange EO, which I suspected might be helpful for this task, but that recipe is a sort of liquid soap made from grated soap, so the EO wouldn't be getting cooked out. I was pondering if the cleaning power of the orange would be wiped out in CP. Maybe something to try as HP or rebatch?...
