Teach Soap

hello, hoping someone can answer this for me.... can i substitute goat's milk for the water in my favorite cold processed soap recipe? i know i've successfully used teas and aloe juice, but does anyone know if you can just do this with goat's milk?

You certainly can, but understand that milk can be kind of touchy to soap with.

Have you ever made any kind of milk soap before?

Sure you can. Some people sub all the milk for the water portion, others (like me), use minimum water to dissolve the lye in, then add the rest as milk after the lye cools off.

yes i have used goat's milk before, in a different recipe... but the recipe was alot smaller than i'm used to, and i didn't get that many bars from it. this way i'm hoping to use my favorite recipe, with my old standby molds...

If you mix your lye into the milk, make sure you freeze the milk until it is slushy and then mix your lye into it. Be aware that it may turn bright orange!
