I'm going to make an unscented pumpkin soap and planned on using canned pumpkin puree. Then earlier today I got a pumpkin, scooped it out and put in my smoothie maker with distilled water to see what it would look like (I don't have a juicer). It's not juice, but thin and runny...how should I incorporate it into the soap?

I've used canned also. Good luck!

Just curious - why did you add water to the pumpkin pulp? Like most fruits and veggies, it is mostly water already, right?
If I were you - and determined to use fresh pumpkin, puree another batch without the water.

Personally - in the interest of convenience - I used canned pumpkin, and was lucky enough to find some without any additives.

Good luck, would love to see pics when done. My pumpkin I posted that was orange and brown, turned dark brown because of the EO and than totally lost its scent, so now I have dark brown soap with no scent :((((

Unless you added fragrance or EO, unscented pumpkin soap will not have a scent.

There was a post on another forum, where a girl used fresh pumpkin puree, and she said it did not discolor and retained a pumpkin smell. I'm not sure how old the soap was when she made these observations, and I did not try to duplicate her results

Oh, I agree! I just mentioned that somebody posted that.. I didn't believe it either, which is why I did not try to duplicate her results !

updated with pic: It was very soft when I took it out of the mold yesterday so I let it sit and didn't cut until today. The color is vibrant but will see how much it turns as I used frozen goat milk with the pumpkin puree when I made the lye solution. I used only 1/2 tsp. ground oatmeal because I didn't want very much in there, so those are the little specks you see. No pumpkin scent in the finished soap either....I can detect a smell but I think it's from the gm...kinda bakery-ish. I like the smell of fresh pumpkin puree though...wish there was a FO for that! :)

@selena: I haven't seen your pumpkin soap yet..will look for it. Sorry it didn't turn out!

@mella: that's a thought! Thanks for the suggestion...I probably won't try it this year though because I have a lot of canned puree left!
