I would never, ever make soap in a blender. Too many things can go wrong!

I think that's kind of weird... I would just mix it in my regular pot with my stick blender instead of messing with a blender. How would you know if you reached trace or not before your pour the soap into the molds? :?

There is a book called Milk Based Soaps by Casey Makela, published by the same folks (Story Publishing) that did Cavitch's books. She uses a blender to make her milk soaps.

I never would have made milk soap if that was the only way to do it. Makela's method involves two people, blenders, and a lot if extra work, seems like. I just skimmed over those instructions, and it looks like the blender serves the purpose of the stick blender.

(She does seem to have less of a "get thee behind me, Satan" attitude towards FOs than Cavitch does, however. )

I like using powdered goats milk because I can just blend it into my oils before adding the lye water. It's definitely a low-stress way to do milk soaps! 8)

Thanks everyone seemed strange, I think I will stick to the way I have made them in the past. I just thought adding the milk that way vs in with lye would save me from screwing up, I am not good with milk vs water and lye
