Teach Soap

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the Soapmaker 3 program and was surprised at how different the water amounts are with it's calculations compared to Soapcalc. I've not had any problems using the Soapcalc rates but yesterday had issues with both my batches and it was the first time I used the calculations through the Soapmaker 3 program. My regular batch calls for 13.2 ounces of water for a 40 ounce batch or oils and Soapmaker 3 calls for just 9.1 ounces. Both are calculated on a 33% water discount and a 6% lye discount.

I was expecting to see a bit of a difference but this seems substantial and then having issues with both my batches yesterday I'm concerned that I can't trust the Soapmaker 3 amounts??

Anyone have any experience with this?

I don't know what your recipe is, but if I take 40 ozs. of coconut, the water amount is 10 to 15 ozs. and 6.92 ozs. of lye for a 6% superfat. There should not be that much of a difference with water. If you want to PM me your recipe, I'll run it through mine when I get home tonight.
