Just to be sure I want to go through this. Most of the time when you rebatch, you grate the soap, add a little water and melt over heat, then pour again.

If you have a batch that seperates, wouldn't it be goopy? So you don't have to grate it but you can just mix the glop with some water and heat it up. Can you rebatch without adding it to more new soap?

All rebatch will look like mashed potatoes. :) If the soap is new, there is no need to add water. If the soap separated, CAREFULLY add all of it to your crock pot, then rebatch.

I rebatch in the microwave. I don't think it's necessary to grate the soap. Cutting it into chunks works for me. The only soap I ever got to melt completely was the 100% castor oil soap I made a few weeks ago.

People I've given soap to have chosen the rebatched soap over my successful soaps more than a couple times. :| They like the mottled look of the rebatch.

I have rebatched alot....I don't great..to much work.I also cut the soap in chunks, but I do add some goatsmilk to even fresh soap, because I know it will cause no trouble and the soap gets melted down faster.

I didn't mention that I do add a little water unless I have a batch of soap that is an "instant failure-rebatch". I add the water a little at a time. I microwave on high for ten minutes, stir and add a little water. Then another 10 minutes in the microwave, add water and stir. I keep this up until I've got it as melted and mixed as it's going to get. Then it goes into the mold. I take it out of the mold as soon as it's cool since it's already pretty well cured (well, unless it's one of my instant failure-rebatches). Hopefully now that I have a stick blender I won't be rebatching so much. I was beginning to think of myself as the Instant Failure-Rebatch Queen.
