Teach Soap

I'm pretty new to soap making and wanted to make my hubby some for Father's Day. I'm using the Brambleberry soap app for Android and the moisturizing bar recipe... but I'm a little shy on OO. What can be used as a sub? I can get more OO but kind of lazy today and wanted to try it while the house was empty.

You can try subbing rice bran for the olive oil. As always, recalculate your recipe on a soap calc anytime you change any of your oils or butters..

I substitute rice bran oil for olive oil and it works nicely. Run your recipe through SoapCalc to get the correct amount of lye for the substitution.

I recalculated one of my recipes to use half olive and half soybean oil (because it's less expensive than olive) and it turned out really well.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I've used all of those at one time or another and they all work great, so it's just a matter of what you have on hand, and what you feel like trying. Have fun experimenting, just always check the calculator and you will be fine!
