I read online someplace...to use baby oatmeal in your soaps, so I bought a box, hadnt bought any in 23 years so I had forgotten its flakes. Does anyone use this? Doesnt seem like it would be any good say for ex foliation. If I use plain oatmeal instead, should I put it in my blender til its like dust? Ive so far only sprinkled oats on top for appearance, but Id like to use them as an inclusion. Thanks everyone in advance!

I put my oatmeal in a coffee grinder and spin it until it is very fine, unless I'm using it for garden soap - then I leave it fairly large for scrubbing.

I use baby oatmeal in my soaps all the time--it will not make it scrubby at all though.

I use regular oatmeal and run it through my food processer, but not till it's dust. Remember anything you put into soap thats dried will swell a little when it hits the oil .

I use one of those Magic Bullts. Yeah, saw the infomercial, wife wanted one so I ordered it. You know how they show it chopping onions? It doesn't. I tried it once, I got onion juice. But it does an awesome job on oatmeal for a batch of M&P I did.

I use baby oatmeal from time to time. It all depends on the customers. I have one lady that loves it chunky and rough and then there's another one that wants it as fine as possible. Saves the time spent on the grinder.

It really depends what you want it for. If you are using it for its water softening and antipruritic properties, then using the baby flakes or collodial oatmeal is fine. If you want a small amount of exfoliation, then using the larger oats is better.
