Hi, all! I was just wondering - have any of you successfully used flake lye in goat's milk soaps? I read that bead lye should be used in milk soaps because flake lye may not dissolve well in cold or high-fat liquids, which would include many milks (and especially cream).
Is goat's milk one of those milks where this would apply? Is the fat content in whole goat's milk high enough to be a problem?
I have flake lye from BB and I've not had any problems getting it to dissolve in cold liquids (it did fine with cold beer, and I keep my distilled water chilled). But I know that milk needs to be really cold - like a frozen slushie. I have flake lye from BB and I'd rather not have to special order any bead lye just for milk soaps if I don't have to. But I don't want undissolved lye in my soap either.
Have any of you used flake lye when making soap with whole goat's milk? How did it go?
Thanks for any advice!
