can you use regular silicone molds for CP soaps??

Sure! Just don't use them for food after.

My DH just bought a silicone bread loaf mold he found at a discount store. It has a really neat wavy bottom that I think will look great for soap. And the sides are supported, too!

Mella, I agree with you. I think that it takes the silicone molds longer to set as well, but I do like the ease of using them without lining.

I really wanted to like my silicone mold but I seem to keep coming back to my ol' reliable. homemade, wooden loaf mold. I have had a lot of sticking problems with the silicone mold. It probably stems from my being too anxious to get the soap out of the mold.

I have some sticking problems too with my WSP mold. The sides of the soap ends up staying stuck to the silicone and ruins the look of the soap, but still beats lining them. My Lifeworks mold actually opens up and breaks free from the soap with no sticking problems at all. Heck, I don't even have to wash the mold after using it. I mainly still use my WSP mold more because I like to do smaller batches.

I prefer my wooden mold, but I like the smooth look that silicone molds give (and the no lining). I caved and bought the silicone loaf mold from WSP! I used it for the first time today and will see if I have problems unmolding tomorrow. I probably shouldn't have been peeking but I always do to see if it gels, and I don't think it did. Will report back with results. :0)

yep, got partial gel and the soap is really soft. wonder if I can just build a wooden "mold"/box to put the silicone mold into?
