Teach Soap

I have been researching the different types of molds for cp soap. I keep comming across a loaf mold that supposedly has no need for a liner. It looks just like the wooden loaf molds but it is made of High Density Polyethylene. I am wondering if anyone has tried this or anything similar. To me it looks great. I think it would be nice to not have to bother with a liner but I wonder if unmolding will be difficult or if the sides of the soap will be as smooth as it is with a liner. I would love to hear some informed opinions on this before I make a purchase.

I've seen those advertised and even watched a video of how to unmold the soap. They look nice, but are expensive! I use a couple of 2# silicone loaf molds like the one in soapbuddy's picture (this is what gelled soap looks like) and I've never had soap stick to it. It also is less trouble to unmold than what the HDPE video showed. It can go in the oven for CPOP or in the freezer with no problem.

I bought 2 lb HDPE molds off ebay. The only way I can keep the soap from sticking to those molds is to grease them up with petroleum jelly before pouring the soap in. I love my molds with silicone lining, the soap pops right out.

It depends where you buy the HDPE mold. I have 5 of them from SoapHutch and I don't line them. Yes, they are pricey. If you don't want to line your molds, I suggest you get silicone molds.
