I have pictures, now I just need to get them on my computer. I used alkanet, red sandalwood, madder root, activated charcoal, comfrey, safflower, turmeric, nettle, black walnut hull, and left one plain for comparison. I made a single kilo batch and poured into individual molds so I could test multiple colors. I mixed in the powders after I poured into the molds. I couldn't measure fast enough, so I know I used too much for the small molds. The last few look a little whipped since they were hardening as I was trying to mix in the color. I'm interested in staying power, so I'm keeping these around to see if (and how) they fade. They all have changed colors from when I first put them in, so looks in the beginning can be deceiving which makes it trickier

I am wanting to see pictures too! I really enjoy all the neat colors that herbs and spices can provide, and I especially like the ones that morph. I just think its really cool to put something looking pink into a old, and get something yellow out....well, once you know it does this it's cool, finding out the hard way rather sucks
I am waiting on some indigo, maddar root, alkanet root, saffron, and red sandalwood myself...can't hardly wait til they get here!

Your use of old drawers is brillient ! Nicely done.

I have not used the idigo in the lye bath before, I will have to try it! One of the things I like about it, besides the color itself, is that it only takes 1/8 of a teaspoon (up to 1/4 depending how deep you want it), or for the woad powder either, for making 5 pounds of soap. So this is a great powder to stretch the budget with! I did look at buying a whole 5 pound batch once, but then I would have had to figure out how to process it through to the blue, since that seemed like a lot of work, I decided not to bother!

Anyway, good luck with your blues, and your herbal colors are quite lovely! Make sure that you take pictures of the woad and the indigo too! Especially since they are my favorites!
