This might be a silly question, but BSTS...

A couple of my first CP batches are very basic recipes with no additives or color and very lightly scented with EOs. Recently, a friend gave me a The Complete Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy. I stumbled across a recipe for shampoo that calls for "soap flakes." Can I just make soap flakes out of my older, not so attractive batches to use in recipes like this? Will the % of superfatting affect the outcome of my shampoo? I used a 10% lye discount in my first batches.

CP soap is not the best medium to use on your hair. You can make "flakes" out of shredded CP soap, but when you add water to melt them, you will end up with a thick, snotty liquid. The essential oils would need an emulsfier to stay mixed in the the liquified soap. 10% lye discount might deposit those oils (that didn't saponify) into your hair and make it dingy.
