A friend who bought quite a few bars of soap from me asked me a question that I don't know the answer to. She wanted to know if her supply of new bars of soap would keep longer if she kept them in the freezer until she was ready to start using each new one. Would that work? Or does that change the makeup and/or texture of the soap?

Thanks!

I don't think it would matter. I have samples of my old bars that I saved away and some are quite old. There is no problem with any of them, except some don't have scent any more.

Putting things in the freezer or fridge will make them dry out and reduce moisture content. Think of a head of lettuce left unpackaged in your fridge. I've heard that also, that soap and candles will last longer if kept in the freezer. If there is any moisture in the soap, I would think there is a certain amount of truth to the theory. However, I would think that the difference would be so miniscule it wouldn't be worth the extra energy it would take to freeze them. Brownies however, would stay indefinitely in the freezer.

There are very few things that I won't eat. I'm not a glutton....just a large guy with a commensurate appetite. Never tried a frozen brownie. Eat frozen candy bars occasionally.

And you guys can go make some soap cause my wife made me a fresh pan of brownies....so there! Uh-Oh, that means she bought something. Everyone have a good night. I have to go search the house to see if we have anything new.

Brownies won't keep in my freezer. We'd eat them with ice cream (also in the freezer) and hot fudge sauce.
having said that your soaps should be good for a year, how much did she buy?

She got a new English saddle but it wasn't bad. In case you're wondering, the brownies were delicious. They're also gone.

a friend of mine just bought 17 bars, I know she will share so me of them with her family but I wasn't worried about any of them losing their smell.

I was just about to ask a question about soap in the freezer!!
I have soap that should be ready to be unmolded but it's stuck in the mold. I froze it for 30 minutes and it still won't come out. I wanted to freeze it again. I was wondering if freezing it too long damaged it or not, but now after reading this I'll leave it in there until it pops out of the mold.

btw I think brownies should have a forum of their own around here! so much brownie talk lately LOL

I think we better stick to just soaps. It's making everyone hungry.
