Teach Soap

A client of mine recently asked me if I could make soap using chili oil. My original thought was that it could burn someone's skin/eyes, etc. But then, just the other day i saw on a site a butter that has Capsicum in it and i also see an EO that is just Capsicum so now I am beginning to wonder......

Has anyone ever done or heard of this? I can't find an SAP value for chili oil so I would not know how to even calculate something like this.

The chilies are most likely added to a base oil like olive. I would try it at 1%. If it was me though, I wouldn't do it as soap. If someone gets this soap in their eyes, it could cause some serious damage. Butter with chilies or a balm is usually not used in the facial area. I use my capsicum balm for my arthritis. If that's what they want it for, tell them that soap is a wash product, so it would not have the same therapeutic value as a balm, for example.

Where I work we also use a capsicum cream to treat joint pain. Alot of the patients do complain that it can burn after application. I would not choose to use this for soap.... there are delicate tissues on the body where this should not be applied. I question the benifit this soap would have.

I've often wondered if I could make a soap that smelled like chili peppers or jalapeno peppers because I love the smell!! Not trying to get any benefit from the capsicum, I just like the scent.
If you figure our how to make this without the "burn", PLEASE let me know!!!!
I guess I have an oddball taste, but since I only make soap for me and my husband, I dream of soaps in the scents that we love.

There is an FO that's called something like orange and chili peppers. If I find it, I'll post a link.

Thanks, soapbuddy!!! I checked out the Mill Creek website and saw lots of yummy FOs. Can I use them in CP soap, the body-safe ones?
