Hello this is my first time to post a question. I have been making cp soap for 6 years and have never done anything so goofy, so here goes my dumb mistake. . . I was making a large batch of soap 266 oz of oils (this is my standard size batch). It is discounted 6.8% Everything seem fine when I poured it into my wooden mold. Until an hour later I found 6 oz of shea butter measured out on the counter that I had left out of the batch! Like an idiot I tried to mix it into the soap mixture that was already quite firm. It looked horrible after I stirred in the melted shea butter for 5 minutes or so. Now I'm panicking about it and look at my excel spreadsheet (Chris Mathes - Soapsheet) and since it was my super fatting oil I could have left it out and had a Lye discount of 5% and would have still been in the safe to use range. I know there are differing opinions on whether super fatting is benifical or not.

Is there any hope for this batch? Should I try to rebatch it or do some sort of hot process to it? If so please send any info as I have no experience with either process.
Thanks Amy

I would chunk it up and rebatch. Next time you make it, add all your oils and butters at once. There is no way that your butter would end up as your superfat. Lye is still quite active at trace and it will take whatever it wants. The only way your butter would end up as your superfat is if you hot process the soap and add your butter after the cook.
