I always make my soap in a three pound loaf mold. Currently I have some soap I am not happy with so I would like to cut it up and add it to another batch so it looks like colored cubes. Now. Here is my question. If I cut up my chunks and weigh them and they weigh 1.5 pounds does this mean I reduce the size of my new batch that I will mix them with to 1.5 pounds so it will fit in the 3 pound mold?

If your mold holds 3 lbs. and you add 1.5 lbs. of embeds, reduce your soap batch by that amount.

Maybe this is a stupid thing to ask. Do you put the embeds in the mold and pour the soap over them or put the embeds in the soap, mix them up, then pour it in the mold? I am tending towards the latter.

I put the embeds into the soap as soon as a thinnest layer forms on top. Sometimes I put the embeds in the fridge first so they are cold and won't melt.
