I was wondering, if I make a 2 layer soap where one layer is left natural with no color and the other layer is colored with tea or coffee, will the color from the tea/coffee layer bleed into the uncolored layer at all? I plan to use triple strength tea or coffee as a replacement for the lye water. I wont actually add any tea leaves or coffee grounds to the soap.

Also, does using tea or coffee accelerate trace at all?

Any info would be great! Thanks!

You can, but over time the color will seep into the uncolored portion. Be aware that if you add lye to triple strength coffee it will stink; bad. It will cure out though.

I didn't have great luck coloring with either, but I added coffee grounds with good success. The green tea was too scratchy and the gross smell came back in the shower.

when I make my green tea soap I use dry chamomile tea beacuse it dosen't bleed color or be scratchy. I simply list it as tea on the lable
