Teach Soap

This is the third batch of CP soap I've made with my Baltic Birch Mold from BB. I love the mold and I don't think it is the problem, but I'd like to know why the soaps in the middle end up with a mottled, bumpy appearance. Does it have to do with the way I pour it into the mold? I always tap it on the counter a few times to release air and get it even. I took these pictures of my latest soap after it had been in the mold for 23 hours. At this point, I don't think the soap in the middle is going to look like the soap on the edges. Please tell me your thoughts! Thanks!

Do you gel? It's possible that the middle is overheating.

Yes, I do. I just showed these to my husband and he thought the same thing; that the middle is probably getting too hot.
I put the lid on the mold and have a towel doubled-up under it and over the top. Maybe I won't double-up the towels? What do you think?

I would do one or the other. Cover with the lid, but leave the towel off, or wrap with a towel but leave the lid off.

I think your soap is lovely. By the way people youd sell it to wont know thats not the look you we're going for.
