Teach Soap

Hello,

I made soap on Saturday afternoon and put it in the fridge around 5 or 5:30pm. The next morning I was leaving to go out of town and didn't want to leave it in the fridge (I should have looking back) so I took it out around 7:45am and then I came last night and can't budge it out of the mold (I'm using Brambleberry's clear log mold that is 2.5 pounds). The soap is soft still. As I was pretty tired last night I stuck it in the fridge and figure I'll work on it when I get home from work today. Also I'll try to put it in the freezer for 20 minutes or half an hour and see if that helps. I don't want to crack the mold and may just have to scoop the soap out and rebatch it into something else.

I've never had a soap stick in the mold like this before and in the past I've always managed to get it out. I'd love any tips you might have in case my fridge and freezer idea doesn't pan out.

Hmm ... I just used the clear log (the plastic one, right?). I haven't made any cp/hp soap without lining it which is awful at making scrap waste. I've heard you can oil the mold, but I've been too worried that it would stick. I may need to just try it!

Have you used that mold before without problems? I also reused my lining last night by running one of those spreaders for icing (I never use it) between the soap and freezer paper. I wonder if you could try that and then dump it upside down and push on the bottom?

Thanks, I forgot to mention that I did oil it with mineral oil. Yes, I've used this mold many times without a problem but I've never let my soap sit out of the fridge that long in the past. Normally I put it in the fridge for 15-24 hours then take it out and if I'm able I take the soap out then when it's hard. I'm thinking that because I left it sitting out it somehow glued to the mold. Also I've never lined the mold either. I'm really hoping my freezer trick works.

I hope the freezer will do the trick.

hey soapbuddy, my mold problem was that it wouldnt pull away from the sides to let air in... do you think a dehumidifier would help to shrink the soap up a tiny bit to allow air down into the mold, thus releasing it?
