Hi. Sorry if I shouldn't be posting about hot process under the cold process section - I just wasn't sure where else to put this post.

I have been making hot process soap in the oven since January and I really love the process. I have finally gotten my recipe where I want it. Now, I would love to add goat milk to it. I have some powdered goat milk. I am wondering if I can add the powdered milk after the cook? If so, should I mix it with a little distilled water or some reserved oil before adding it? I always add shea after the cook - could I melt it and mix the powdered milk with the shea? Also, I make small 2 lb batches - how much milk should I add?

Thanks in advance for helping me!
Maranda

Milk works the best if you let it saponify. I would hold back some of your water, add one TBS of the milk powder, make a slurry with the milk powder and add it as soon as your lye water and oils have emulsified. You can still add the butter after the cook.
