Teach Soap

hi everybody!

i made my very first batch of CP soap on wed night, and it is PERFECT! the only problem is that i made too much for my wood mold, so i threw the rest of the raw soap into a couple of molds i had sitting about... theyre ELF molds from Brambleberry... the white ones.

are these molds only for M&P? because now that its been 48 hours, i cannot for the life of me unmold them.

ive heard about the freezer trick but i dont have one!

any tips/tricks/suggestions/words of wisdom for a noob like me?

Since you don't have a freezer, leave them be and as they start to shrink, they should come out of the mold.

would it help if i used a dehumidifier?

and do you think i should just stick to loaf molds for CP or do alot of people use fancy molds for CP?

If it's humid where you are a dehumidifier would help. For small molds, it's best to use some beeswax in your recipe or add some sodium lactate for hardness. Otherwise I would use just your regular mold.

Raksava they are so easy to unmold with the freezer. Do you have a friend or neighbor you could ask to borrow it for a few hours?? Maybe they could have a bar of soap ?

you could set the molds in a large baking pan with ice water bath that might do it. But if you wait a few weeks they will shrink and come out of the mold, depending on your recipe which for a first batch I would imagine is pretty standard.

well, i DO have a freezer, but the mold im using wont fit in it... horizontally, vertically or diagonally. i guess i should have said i dont have a freezer big enough, haha!

i will try the icebath approach. ive just been waiting it out so far, but the impatience is setting in!

i just had the same problem. I used a plastic bear mold and with the first one it came out great.. 2nd and 3rd the rt leg got stuck.. so with the last batch (which I did add bees wax at 1%) the mussel stuck just a tiny bit. With the 4th batch I did spray the legs with PAM... think I will do this with the entire mold. I actually only had one bear that lost a leg... the others I waited 7-10 days and it released. I am just about done with the bears!

are you shooting your salad WITH something, or shooting your salad AT something?!


i prefer to shoot mine with balsamic vinaigrette, personally!
