Teach Soap

Hi all,

I order all my oils & butters from Bramble Berry, who has proven to be a quality vendor & has excellent customer service! However, they do not sell rice bran oil. Does anyone have experience ordering from the online store, "The Soap Dish"?

I've ordered from them. Never had a problem. Very nice folks, good customer service. Do you just need a small amount of rice bran oil? I buy mine from Columbus Foods/ Soaper's Choice. It's a 7 pound container.


Edited to add: $12.46 from Soapers Choice. Same size is $28.00 at the Soap Dish.

I purchased from NDA thinking they were in San Ramon CA. Won't do that again they are in Canada and have only a San Ramon web site presence or some such thing, not a facility full of supplies! No nice fooling mother nature. That said I am anxiously awaiting the Rice Bran Oil!

Hi Mella. She's referring to the Soap Dish. They're in Indiana. NDA is in Canada but has a NY distribution center. Long way from CA.

Anyway, Lolapooch, if you only need a small amount of rice bran oil, then yeppers, the Soap Dish is great. However, the 7 pound bottle (which is the smallest size that Soaper's Choice has) is less than half the Soap Dish's price at Soaper's Choice. Soaper's Choice is in Illinois.

To order from the dish you must be a member for at least 3 months. I've been wanting to buy somethings there also, but must weight my 3 months!

You're most welcome. You don't have to be a member to buy from the Soap Dish's online store. I've bought from them half a dozen times or more without being a member of anything. This is the Soap Dish:

Maybe that 3 month membership wait has to do with online buys from forum members or co-ops or specials thru the Dish Internet forum? Neither The Soap Dish, nor NDA ( New Directions Aromatics) require any type of membership to purchase from their online stores.

Thank you for your guidance & advice. Columbus Foods does not list how the olis/butters are extracted (solvent vs. pressed, etc...), so I am a little leary. I'm trying to keep my soap as pure as possible.

No problem. I know Columbus Foods/ Soaper's Choice organic oils are expeller pressed and a couple others on there are listed as expeller pressed too. I call and ask if I need more info. They're really accomodating. Rebekah at The Soap Dish is very into natural though and is a gracious, helpful person. You enjoy the rest of your week-end too.

I know it's already been said but I also have had good experience with the soap dish. The only reason I don't buy more from them is I can usually get better prices elsewhere. They are friendly and good at answering your questions. They also have an FO that I love (Avocado Mint) that I have not found anything comparable elsewhere.

I subbed rice bran for half of my olive in one of my recipes and didn't care for the feel. I went back to olive.
