Hello,
I have read in this forum that adding 1 tsp of beeswax ppo will help with the ash issues, I have used 1 tsp of beeswax in my last two batches, I melt it and then incorporate it at medium trace, but as soon as put the beeswax in the soap it solidifies, the stick blender kind of takes care of that but my soap ends up with tiny little yellow dots all over, any ideas on how to do this right? I appreciate any advice.
Thank you.
Ido

I've stopped using beeswax because I have to soap too hot to keep it from reforming, it’s caused one too many batches of my soap to overheat and there are other ways to prevent ash.

These are tips from the Soap Makers forum that you might try.

"I've had good luck just lightly misting my soap as soon as it is poured into a log mold with plain ole rubbing alcohol and then placing a sheet of Glad Press N Seal on top of the poured soap and smooth it out gently so that no air gets to the soap. Once the soap is set and ready to be cut, I peel off the press n seal and slice it. This is a tip I got from someone on this forum (sorry - can't credit the poster because I don't remember the name) but it has worked like a charm and I no longer have a problem with ash."

=======================================
"Keep your soap covered with plastic wrap until you unmould it. Once you've unmoulded and cut, spray lightly (all over) with alcohol and put on racks to dry."

Also some people in our forum, ( Xoxoxy and Knine ) have great tips for rinsing the soap off to get rid of ash and give it a nice shine. Hopefully they’ll see this thread and chime in.

Thank you justkate I really appreciate your advice, I'm going to try doing that instead of beeswax and see how it works for me, will let you know. Thanks

I add beeswax to just about every batch. It gets melted with my oils and butters. I can soap as low as 100 degrees with no problems.

Ditto what Soapbuddy said. It starts to get murky towards the bottom of the pan around 110F but I've never had a problem as long as I stir everything completely.

I was having the same problem when I started adding beeswax and one of my prettiest batches of soap has little yellow nubbies sticking out once you start using it. It has been relegated to the "family" drawer and works fine, just isn't shareable. But I have found that if you add the beeswax to the oils before you start heating then and before you melt down your solid oils, that it incorporates the beeswax fully and you don't end up with the hard yellow bits.

All that said, I tend not to use beeswax unless I am really concerned it will be soft or I am using a very detailed mold, which is pretty ironic since we have our own beehives!

Exactly, what I said was I do not use beeswax unless I am concerned the soap will be soft, not that the beeswax will cause it to be soft
