Teach Soap

So did my second CP batch 2 pounds this time I'm getting brave. It was such a fun time. These soaps two days now only one day out of mold, as they were a bit soft. They are creamy and the un colored ones are lovely. The color experiment went afoul the green is good but the red oxide wasn't good. Mixed the colored oxides in medicine cups with glycerin and next time I think I should use glass and stir LONGER not sure what liquid medium I'll use perhaps a bit of alcohol?

So the white creamy ones are grand and in 6 weeks we'll see about thelather bubbles, cleansing and fragrance!

I am more addicted than ever and need to start looking for an outlet for these babies. Friends and family are set for a while~ hahahaa

I agree with you, Mella. I have heaps of soaps here, after giving to friends, family and a charity shop. But I just can't stop making it! It's definitely an additction, but I think it's also a form of creative art. I feel really GOOD when I've been soaping. And thinking up different ideas is great for brain activity. At the moment I'm mulling around ideas for opal soaps. Everything I think of, I can find a problem with, so haven't actually tried anything yet. I really love the ethereal look of opals, and don't want to dimish that with my creations, so it will have to be perfect.

Wow! Those are brilliant. I love the ones Oasis do, too, but these are lighter, and more "opally". When you see things like that, you think "what's the point", but I guess they had to start somewhere too. I'll keep working on it in my mind, and see what I turn up. Photos will follow (just don't know when).

Good job! Next time mix the red oxide with a little oil. Don't use alcohol. That could make your soap seize.

Thanks soapbuddy. That is double the one pound recipe you shared with me! Really the naked ones are the prettiest! Again thanks for the hint about the oil with the oxides, the glycerin just didn't cut it, and it is so good to know that alcohol could make a CP soap seize.


Oh I have another question please if there is no limit! Some of the naked/plain soaps I did mix a bit of pearly light gold mica into them. Do you think that was a waste of time, or when using the soap will the sparkle show a little bit???

TU soapbuddy, I'll try next time to do a single naked bar with a swirl of mica in it!

I saw a photo of someone else's soap a naked bar lovely with a bit of mica in it somehow. I'd post a photo of it but perhaps that isn't good form to share someone else's photo. It was truly elegant and I have a friend that I would love to do a nice naked soap bar for.

Mella, to answer your PM. No I haven't but it's an interesting idea. I think we all just blend as needed.
I can think of 5 or 6 FOs that would be good with Lavender, mint, patchouli or vanilla.
