Hello all,

I am trying to move out of my comfort zone and want to play around with pistachio nut butter, I have read that it does not clog pores and would like to try to make a nice face soap with it. I plugged everything into the lye calculator but it is one i have not used before (nor have i used pistachio nut butter) can someone tell me it i am on the right track or if i will need to make any adjustments?
Olive Oil 70% - 22.4 oz.
Palm Oil 20% - 6.4 oz.
Pistachio Oil 10% - 3.2 oz (between 3-10% was the recommended amount on a couple of sites)

Superfat (with castor oil?) 6% - 1.92oz.
Lye 4.38 oz (0% discount)
Medium water 8.7 oz.

I used this lye calculator it seems very good but i am unfamiliar with is as i usually run over to the brambleberry one.

As always help and tips are very much appreciated! ( i love making this stuff!!!!) 8)

What is the INCI for the butter? If it's made with hydrogenated soy, then that's what I would use as the SAP value. Do you have any castor?

"INCI: Pistacia Vera Seed Oil (and) Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil"

The above is what the inci is. Two different sites quoted the SAP at two different numbers but they are close so i am not sure how much that would make a difference. one was .132 and the other .134.

i do have castor oil i was going to use that as my superfat. Also any ides if palm oil clogs pores? i know coconut oil can so i am cutting out of this recipe this time.

thanks
erin

For CP soap add your oils and butters up front. The lye will be active at this point and it will take whatever it wants. The only way you could superfat with a particular oil or butter is if you HP and add that after the cook. Since castor adds bubbles, I wouldn't use it as a superfat. I don't use palm oil, but if I use coconut at higher than 20%, I find it a bit drying.
