I am trying to figure out how to make a gold color for a batch of cold process. My gold mica didn't do much the last time I tried. Any suggestions?

Since CP soap is opaque, you won't really get the pearly, sparkly effect of mica in it. I think all you will get is a flat color.... maybe if you add a bit of orange to a yellow color you can get a shade of gold...
If you brush the outside or the top of the soap with the mica then you can get more of a gold effect. :D

You can also add chunks of MP that were made with gold mica to your CP soap.

I use natural colorants. If you sub 50% or so of your lye water for goat's milk, it will render a nice golden bar. But you have to mix the lye directly to the milk to get the color. Another hint: I make an orange/plumeria soap that sells very well. To get the bar orange, I dissolve a tablespoon of honey in the water prior to adding the lye. To get a reddish brown bar, mix 50% water 50% pomegranate juice. Adding lye to the pomegranate juice mix will turn a putrid green at first then change to a crimson red when the lye is dissolved. Coolness.

Super--I have only used powdered goats and only got TAN. Would fresh help if I went to whole foods. Don't have a lot of goats here in smack dab in the middle Los Angeles! The other colorants--WHO KNEW? Thanks Super and Soap Buddy. BTW--tried yellow pop mica from TDK--NOT GOLD! Oh well, brushed gold mica on the top so made it work

If anyone else is interested, I am going to try the honey trick. But orange I have WIRED! When using palm, I sub out 25% and use red palm oil--lo and behold--OJ yellow! Never ever use more than 50% red palm or you get orange lather. I only used organic red palm that I get at an african market in LA. Do NOT use Carotino's cooking oil--you need a thicker red palm like an organic palm oil. Best in class for me!
