Teach Soap

I just received my new soap mold from Soap Hutch. It's great. It's 14 X 16 X 4. This is much bigger than I have used before. How long do I leave the soap in the mold? I've been using small 8 x 8 x 2 and the soap was usually done in 24 to 36 hours. I have no idea how long it needs to be in this large mold. I'm also trying to figure out how many pounds it holds. I'm hoping to get some made this week.

It depends how fast your soap gets hard enough to cut. If you normally cut at 24 - 36 hours, this should be the same. If your mold is 4" high, 16" long and 14" wide it will hold up to 34 lbs. of soap including your liquid. Is that what you have? My math could be off though.

I wasn't sure about the amount it would hold. I figured less since the dividers will cut down on the actual square inches. I thought about 25 - 27 pounds.

I figured 4" x 16" x 14" = 896
896 x 0.38 = 340.48

So 340.48 ounces of soap base oils will fill the mold. Or 21.28 lbs. without adding water to the equation, since some people discount their water.
