Teach Soap

hi, can anyone help me, i have finally got a few things that i ordered before Christmas (still waiting on loads of stuff) i have coconut oil, palm oil, shea butter and some EO, i already have lye and olive oil. have you got a reasonably small batch recipe i can try, i have look through pages of recipes and miles of posts and i just cant get my head round it all thanks lisa x

This was the one I used. It was a very small batch, it filled a loaf pan halfway and made 3 bars that are about the size of a bar you would see at the store. It was super easy.

181 g olive oil (40%)
136 g lard (30%)
113 g coconut oil (25%)
22 g castor oil (5%)

for this soap calc told me to use 63 g lye and 172 g water


that is a recipe that I made using a basic "3 oil" soap recipe and tweaking it. The original was something like this:
50% olive oil
25% coconut oil
25% palm oil

but I didn't have the palm oil so I tweaked it a bit for my own purposes.

Well, if you are absolutely dying to make a batch with what you have on hand here's a suggestion:

Coconut oil: 25%
Palm 25%
Olive 50%
Depending upon the size of your mold you could make a 1lb batch. Plug the numbers into soapcalc and go from there. I know the first time is intimidating with all the different recipes out there, so many different choices! I'd probably save the shea butter for a subsequent batch, just get used to the process with 3 ingredients and then add more exotic and expensive things. If you really want to use it in your first batch try 5% and drop the Palm down to 20%. Good luck! Enjoy and let us know how it goes
