Glycerin

Post subject: Glycerin

I've seen/heard many soapers use glycerin in their CP recipes. What does glycerin add to CP soap? How much should I use and when is it added? The glycerin I've seen at the corner pharmacy is in liquid form and goes for about $4 for a 6 oz bottle.

Soap makes its own glycerin. I don't use it. I have read that some CPHP soapers use it to make it easier to get it into their mold.

I use a tiny bit to mix up my mica. But it's not included into the calculation of my recipe.

On the few occasions where I have done HP I have sometimes added a little glycerine to adjust the consistency. But I really have not had a lot of luck with HP and have found no need to use Glycerine in CP.
