Hi,

I am in a dilema about whether to use palm oil in my soap recipes. I refuse to use any that is sourced from Borneo and Sumatra because of the destruction of the rainforests and loss of habitat for urangutangs.
I have found a supplier that sources their palm oil from Malaysia. No urangutangs there, but is it still ethically alright to use. I am very confused. Please help.

You could use tallow or lard from good old America. That does the same thing in soap. I use palm oil too when I run out of tallow.

I don't know where you live, but Mike from Columbus Foods has ethically harvested palm oil.

I live in Australia. Does anyone know of any suppliers here for ethically harvested palm oil?
