I am fairly new to soaping. After I have cured my Goat Milk soap (I store it in cardboard boxes out of direct sunlight) what is the best way to store my soap? Is is necessary to separate the soap by scents to the scents don't co mingle?
I appreciate your advice.

I store each type (scent) of soap separately.. it makes sure their scents don't "mingle" so when someone picks one up to smell it, they only smell what I intended..
I have small or medium sized plastic storage containers.. and went the extra mile to drill a couple holes in the sides so airflow continues while the lids are on..

Hi Soapbuddy,

Would the boxes for storage be cardboard or some other material. Curious minds! LOL

I use these . They're inexpensive, perfect size and easy to pack in plastic cartons when traveling to craft shows. I put a strip of clear packing tape on the front of the lid and use dry erase markers to write what is in the boxes so they can be reused over and over. I usually don't put soap in them until its cured at least a week (I do cphp) but the boxes are cardboard and breathable so curing can continue. My sister uses them to store her socks in her closet, lots of uses and inexpensive.

Those boxes look like they'd be great. I have a ton of soap curing right now (nothing's ready yet), and I've wondered about scents migrating. I can't tell that it's happening just yet, but I have wondered. Thanks for the tip!

That is an excellent, inexpensive option. Thanks for the info.

I use clear shoeboxes from the Container Store ( I have lots of shoes!) So the empty ones I use to store my soaps -

Depending on the soap shape, pizza boxes work great. Mine are rectangular 5oz bars and they stand up nice on the side and fit together nicely. They also stack pretty well when full.

Yes, the boxes are clean and new. I'm a football / baseball guy so when it's the season I usually go through my fair share of the local pizza parlor pies. They know me and I give them a fair amount of business so I'm not shy to ask them once in a while for a spare box. I've been storing my soaps like this for about 5 years and it works great. Hmmmm......now I'm hungry and it's approaching dinner time. And I do need another box.....
