Thanks guys! Soap buddy - both of those EOs contain the azulene that I mentioned and it's definitely a natural solution but you have to add so much and you're right, it's a pretty expensive way to go...I will definitely try the indigo powder Kim.

Hi Heather
I have used Australian blue clay to successfully colour my soap. I'm not sure if it's available to you in the U.S. but it's worth a mention...

Yes, I've used room temp lye without any problems. I keep the oils on the cooler side, ~100F, and then add the room temp lye. I know people who do warm their lye up in a hot water bath, but haven't done that myself.

Don't heat up your lye water in the microwave. A hot water bath is much safer.
