Teach Soap

This is the first time I experienced a cp batch turn itself into hp while I was stirring it. This was a bar with high shea content. A combination of tallow, shea, olive, soybean, coconut and castor and 4 tsps of sugar in an 8lb batch. The batch went to a thick trace. It started out rtcp. When the Eo's were added it riced immediately, taking on the consistancy of oatmeal when it first starts to cook.

I refused to let it die, one half was poured into a crock pot, the other half in a bucket. We paid more attention to the crock pot batch and turned on the heat for 5 minutes. Stick blended and stirred the batch until it looked like it turned into hp. The batch in the bucket got soo hot on it's own while I stirred it with a stick. Within 10-15 minutes instant hp...how did this occur???

Because soap is an exothermic process. The sugar probably heated up the batch, and the FO helped it along.

Another vote for the sugar - and which EOs were you using? They might have helped it heat up, too.
