I have a question about the "dividing" thin layers I keep seeing in soap between bigger layers. I want to do a very thin dark brown "line" between a white top and a pumpkin bottom for my pumpkin soap. How would I go about doing this? Should I just use oil and colorant and do a thin oily layer or is it better to mix in with some soap. It seems I couldn't get a very thin line if I mixed with soap.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Lisa

I think you need a powder Lisa. Oil and color would saponify.

I have some brown oxide and a ton of charcoal. . .should I "sift" it onto the bottom layer? How would you go about doing it?

You can sift a fine layer over the top of the first soap. Then gently pour another layer over the top of it. It is best if you let the whole thing gel, so the layers adhere.
