I just tried to make a batch of soap with very cold coconut milk mixed with the lye in place of my water. I followed a recipe to the T and when I went to check on the CM and lye mixture, it was hard-like soap! I did read that the oil in the CM with start to react with the lye and saponify, but not to that point. I'm sure I measured everything correctly. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone give me some pointers with the CM usage-or is it not even worth it?
Thanks so much!

That's one of the reasons why I don't do it this way any more. I use minimum water required to completely mix the lye, than add the rest (of the water portion) as coconut milk at a light trace.

I have used coconut milk but natural, not from a can and didn't have this problem, if you need the instructions on how to make it let me know.
Thanks

You can usually break up the chunks and use it anyway - but I got tired of messing with it and now I do it similar to the way soapbuddy does. Minimum water to dissolve the lye - and I actually have my coconut milk in the bucket with the oils when I pour the lye water, rather than waiting for light trace.

Thank you all for your help!
This is a little off topic, but it's a good tip. I had a little bit of leftover coconut milk after my failed attempt and decided to pour it in the bathtub and take a nice long bath. I'm telling you all-you need to do this! My skin has never felt softer!!!
