Teach Soap

I'm getting ready, at least in my mind while I wait for supplies, to make my first batch of soap. I've read a lot of posts on the various fragrances and need help. I usually buy unscented soap as I don't care for anything perfumy. I'm planning on making a very basic olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil soap. Do I need a fragrance? If I don't but would like to use one can anyone suggest fragrances that are natural smelling, as in smells of nature, other than skunk.. ..LOL. Also do you use FO or EO. Thanks for any help you can send my way.

Hi Diana--- you've asked a question that has a million answers! Scent is so personal and individual. There's catagories for "clean" scents then of course all the other "naturals"--- fruits, flowers,herbs,---this is where experimenting with small batches pays off.

Since this is your first batch, you may just want to do an unscented just to get the feel of how this all goes. I would stay away from floral fo's as they are notorious for speeding up trace---- you can get solid soap before it's out of the pot. Eo's and fo's are personal preference--- I lean towards fo's for the variety. Read the info under each listed scent--- many will tell you if you have to move fast ( I'd avoid those right now ) some say they "behave beautifully". Of course that's not a sure thing either--- I've had a "good behavior" go bad behavior!

Small batch--- pick a scent with a good write up--- maybe a citrus as they usually behave for me and go for it!

I would go unscented. That way you can clearly see how the soap combines and what is trace.
