Teach Soap

how do i get good swirls all the way through the soap???? i can do it in melt and pour but this is hard!!! lol thanks a bunch!!

Hi Katiebug, I'm no expert; but somehow I seem to have reasonable luck with swirling and enjoy it. What I do for 2 colors is work with a fairly thin trace and pour some of one color into my mold which happens to be a slab mold. Then a layer of 2nd color, which I hold a little higher above the mold to get some help from gravity. Then, I use something to swirl with. For me it's usually a chop stick, and I do a little swirling. Then another layer of each color and my final swirling with my chop stick until I see a design on top that I like. If things get thick as I'm working, I find I have to work quickly. Each batch is a surprise. I've seen a variety of techniques on YouTube and other sights, so it will be interesting to read the other responses you get.
Scents

I swirl at thin trace and use skewers to swirl. Some color is poured from high, some color fairly close to the mold. That way I get swirls all the way to the bottom.

I agree with scents and soapbuddy, a thin trace is key. I do lots of thin layers with each colour then swirl with a wide popsicle stick. My soap is made in a loaf mold, make sure you hit all the sides.

Thin trace and "in the pot" works more consistently for me! More often than not "in the mold" I can't get a consistent swirl. It happened one time and it was FANTASTIC...and I thought I had done "too much".
