Teach Soap

I know this is a bad picture, but can someone help me figure out what is happening in the soaps?

When I cut, they look smooth and uniform, but after a week or so, I see white squiggles and white freckles in the soap (almost like the soap is cracking a bit). What causes this and how do I stop it? Is it from water discount, the recipe, or am I just a lame cutter (using a pastry cutter)?

It's possible that it's soap ash.

Oh that is interesting. . I thought that was only on the tops. How do I tell what it is? Obviously a better photo would do but any suggestions or has anyone had similar experience? Its a regular recipe I use but in the EOs on these two batches, I got this spreckley thing.

It looks like you got a partial gel , did you try wiping the white off . If you hold the bar under running water , ash will wash right off , you can wipe it off too , I find holding it under the running water works faster and gets the ash out of the divots etc.

I actually got a full gell because those were cpop soaps so it may have something to do with cooking the heck out them. . .
