Teach Soap

I spent about 2 hours yesterday trying to figure out how to stamp soaps (ah yes, the hockey pucks need a Ducks logo!). . .so there I am with the logo (which is actually a meat brander) and a hammer. Soap was cut about 4 hours previously but feels pretty solid.

Screwed up about 3 pieces before I threw the brander out the door.

How do I do this without ruining every other piece? Do I freeze soap first? Wait till it is a week old? Use a mallet (hammer made soap come around the stamp).

All of a sudden. . this isn't fun anymore!

Can anyone tell me the best way to do this?

I use a rubber mallet and either soap stamps or rubber stamps. Is it possible that your soap was just too soft?

It was too soft, but how hard should it be? Should I freeze the soap before I do it? Heat the brand?

I would give it a couple of days til it hardens some.

I do mine after a couple of days also for my lard soaps and sometimes wait a week for my vegan soaps. And I use a rubber mallet.

Where would one buy a rubber mallet????

Home Depot or any hardware store should have a rubber mallet.

I wait about a week, too. If your stamp is pretty intricate and you still have trouble, try dipping it lightly in mica before you stamp - it keeps the stamp from sticking, plus the mica looks cool on the soap. You could get some black mica to keep it from being too girly.
