Teach Soap

Hi folks,

Made a batch of soap this am where I added the sodium lactate in the lye water. The smells I used were Cinnamon EO and Clove EO plus some Arabian Spice. Seize city! Literally in 2 minutes from med trace, the whole thing was as hard as coconut oil and a little chunky like cottage cheese. My stick blender was covered in the color I used for part so I couldn't use so I just mooshed the whole thing into the mold and am currently praying it turns out.

Was it the EOs or the Sodium Lactate that caused such a fast trace? The last time I used sod lactate, I added it at trace and it worked fine. Someone clarify. I should note, I am CPOP'ing this, if it matters.

Cinnamon & Cloves are known for accelerating trace or seizing.

Sodium Lactate will actually help keep the soap more pourable, especially with HP soap. It also helps harden the bars while curing.

I have to agree with soapbuddy that it was the EO that accelerated your trace.
