Actually it's Fresh Mango. Perky little BrambleBerry FO. The color is from oil-infused Annato seed. 15 % of the oils in a new recipe. I'm taking it down to 10% next time. When I lifted the loaf out of the mold today it looked strikingly like the Velveeta cheese my Mom used to buy when I was a child.

This batch did not want to gell (I think it was the subbed annato seed infused oil) and I should have listened to it, because I much preferred the lighter creamy orange color prior to gelling. Shown toward the edges of the mold in the partially gelled batch picture. It finally gelled all the way, but not until 4 hours after pouring and insulating.



I made this for my nieces provided that it cures well. They'll probably like the color.

I think it's a pretty yellow. You will get a lighter color if you don't gel.

They will love the color & the scent. It's a very young person's scent. I made Fresh Mango for my son's girlfriend and her 3 roommates and they loved it!

I like that color , very interesting how you achieved it .

behold, the power of cheese!!!

I am the queen of cheese soap. I have been using red palm oil and no kidding, cheddar pure and pure. But tonight I used annato seed infused oil. If you fridge it, you get yolk yellow. If you cpop, more cheddar. But I actually like the red palm better as it has so great properties.

Cheddar is the new black.

Guess I'll have to jump on the cheddar cheese wagon. I have Fresh Mango. What process did you use to infuse the annato seed in your oils?

You know that may lighten up some as it cures. Also if you don't tell people thats not what your going for they have no idea you didn't intend it to look that way.

I put 3 tbs in about 16 oz of oil and put in crockpot for a few hours. Do not make that much if you try it. I have a whole bottle of this stuff now!

One note. .. this oil stained the heck out of my kitchen countertop when I spilled a bit, so cover your work area! Not sure if that happened to you too, Kate?
