I am ready for Part 2 of my embedded tutorial! Yesterday, I made a 2 lb loaf and ended up cutting out hands with a cookie cutter (couldn't pull the cookie cutter through the whole loaf for the life of me).

Tomorrow, I plan to embed the hands in more soap after they dry out a bit. So here is my question:

Magic Hands suggested I pour the first half at a fairly thick trace and then embed then pour rest on top. Should I separate the batch tomorrow and bring one half to a light trace so that all the outsides of the fingers get filled in with soap? Also, should I spray the hands with alcohol like you do with melt and pour.

Guess what I am calling this soap? HAND SOAP! Ha ha!

lol on the hand soap! :D

No need to spritz with alcohol, and you should have a much easier time embedding the cutouts because they're lighter - the suggestion for thick trace was because a full length embed would be pretty heavy. Embeds will be less likely to sink.

Yes, you should be able to split the batch - bring half to a thicker trace (a good buzz with the stick blender should do it for the thicker part, while you hand-stir the thinner part). Pour the traced half, plant your embeds, and then *carefully* pour the thinner traced top half.

It's pretty easy to accidentally move embedded chunks with the overpour, so make sure you pour from a low height - you can also either pour over the back of a spoon to minimize the flow, or if you want to be extra-cautious, use a large spoon to gently ladle the top layer into place.

Good luck, and be sure to show us pics of the finished soap!
