Does anyone monitor their temperatures while the soap is setting up? I just poured a new batch, covered it with towels, but first placed a wireless remote thermometer so I could watch the temperature rise! It is up to 101!

I have searched all over trying to find out what temp gel occurs at but can't find anything. Does anyone else keep track of the temps this way?

I've seen batches go up to 180, but they also cracked, due to the high heat.

Mine seems to be holding at 102. I wonder at what temp it would be a good idea to pull the towels...

102 degrees is not that hot. I would keep the towels on, til you get full gel.

soapbuddy is right. i don't take temps, but once gel gets all the way to the edges i stop insulating.
