Teach Soap

Thanks for the inspiration Magic_Hands! I'm really excited about how it turned out so far! I used 50% salt and it's scented with BB's Moroccan Mint FO. And the color is 1/4 tsp PPO of Green Chrome Oxide (because I smell more of the Spearmint in this FO).

I just had to come back and correct myself. That wasn't Green Chrome Oxide, it was Hydrated Chrome Green (the teal one!). I need more sleep! This batch took 2 hours to gel in the oven (I told you I'm gel challenged!) and another hour to cool down. I didn't finish cutting them until 1:00 AM and then it took me another hour for me to calm down and get to sleep. It was so exciting but boy was it a challenge to get up this morning. hehe

haha, I'm the same way when I make a new soap = NO SLEEP haha They look wonderful! Did you use 100% coconut oil?

Oh yes Heavenly Scent Soaps, I'm really excited! In fact, I'm as excited about this as I was the first time I made CP soap!

Beccaboo....no the most I would've used would've been 70% Coconut but only if I was doing full salt (80-100%). But since I only used 50% salt, I cut my Coconut down to 55%. I actually split that 55% down into 30% PKO and 25% Coconut. The rest of the recipe was 35% Sunflower HO and 10% Castor. I superfatted at 7%.

Do you think that'll still be ok?

I only waited an hour because it was late and I was tired. The log was still warm when I did it.

It's more crumbly than I wanted it to be but not as bad as it looks in the pic. The white on the outside edges is actually from doing the CPOP method. And I've cleaned them up a little since then.

Hey magic_hands, are you around? I haven't seen you here since I posted this thread.

Any idea why I got crumbly edges? Do you think I cut them too soon? The log was very firm so that's why I thought it was ok.

Or do you think the problem was that I only used 50% salt? How much do you use? I assumed the less salt I added, the less crumbly it would be. But now I'm wondering if it's actually the other way around.

I think salt bars are just crumbly by nature. Yours actually look good- mine are a lot more crumbly than
that! But I also used 80% salt
