Hi all,

I'm not yet into CP (just starting to do some reading) but I ordered some CP soaps online a few weeks ago and just received them and two out of the three I ordered are really pretty soft. I noticed it as soon as I took the first one out of the package. It's not like I was even trying but my thumb put a dent in it pretty easily. Should I wait a few more weeks for these to cure? Thanks!

It depends how long ago they were made. I would contact the person that you bought the soap from and ask. If it was me, I would not sell uncured soap, as it would dissolve in the shower too easy.

Yeah, I am pretty disappointed and have not had a good experience all around with this company. I would contact them about the date it was made but am just sick of the belittling comments from these people. I placed my order on May 21st and just now received my order after getting the run around on when my package would actually arrive.... ugh, and so on... just inspiration for me to make and possibly sell my own soaps :)

Anyway, I think I will just let the two softer ones sit for a week or so until they get as hard as the other because yes, I do think it would just melt away in the shower. Thanks for your help!

my hubby cant wait for my soaps to cure so he used a bar anyway and it melted after a week or so in the shower, LOL :) It is really important that they be cured or else that will happen. Sounds like she is just making the soaps to order and sending them out before they are cured. Maybe she thinks if it melts faster you will be back for more sooner? Either way bad business. I would leave feedback stating you received soap that was not ready for use, so other will think twice about buying from her.

Yes, I agree it was bad business. They actually seem to be a fairly "large" small business, so I am pretty disappointed. I run a online business myself and my rule is if I don't phisically have it in stock and ready to ship, I don't sell it, and I would go by the same for soap as well.

Yeah, I probably should post a review somewhere. Thank you for your advice and input. :)

The only time I have ever shipped a bar that wasn't completely cured was right before Christmas. I was on my way home from a show and got an order for a soap that I had just sold out of. I informed the customer that I had just sold out and that I was going to make a batch that night. I needed to let it sit for a couple of weeks (cpop) before it would be good and cured. This was about 3 weeks before Christmas. Well, he was worried it wouldn't make it there in time and so asked if I let it sit for a week and then shipped it and he didn't wrap it until the day before Christmas Eve, if that would be ok. I said I guess so. I made sure that I told him that it would be soft for at least 2 weeks. He said he understood. Everything turned out great and he ended up ordering more from me. So I don't think it is necessarily a bad idea to send out a soft soap as long as it is fully saponified and the customer understands that it is going to be soft. Like I wouldn't send one out that I had just made 2 days before.

I'm just thinking about the bars being soft enough for a thumb dent in handling----- that doesn't even happen to me when I unmold 24hrs later----- this must be a high soft oil recipe or waaaayyy to fresh to ever package and ship. Places like this can give the rest of us a bad name...........

Yea, even my bars that sat for a week before I sent them were hard enough that you couldn't indent them with a finger.

You can't dent my CP bars after 48 hours easily. I still let them cure for at least 4 weeks. If you can dent soap after 4 weeks, then there's something wrong with the formula.

hmmmmm. I must be doing something wrong then because I can't cut my soaps after 48hours, they are too sticky. Here's one of my recipes, can anyone help me here?

Almond Oil 9,76% Avocado 4.88%
Castor Oil 4.88% Coconut Oil 14.63%
Jojoba Oil 4.88% Olive Oil 36.59%
Shea Butter 7.32% Beeswax 2.44%
Palm Kernel Oil 14.63%

superfat @ 7%

Thanks Irena. I thought I was supposed to keep my coconut & palm kernel combined at under 30% is this not correct?

You're welcome! Is your avocado oil refined or unrefined? If it's unrefined it will have more unsaponifiables.
