I noticed that Magic Hands has a wonderful custom stamp on her soaps. http://www.magichands.etsy.com
Can anyone recommend a place to have a quality one made? I have been looking into it the last couple of months but the prices range quite a bit. :)

Thanks! ;)

I got mine from Owosso Graphics - there's a soapmaker, Anhoki, who does them as well. Her Etsy shop is at www.anhoki.etsy.com - she's a terrific person, and I've heard good things about her work. She is recovering from surgery at the moment so there might be a delay in getting it made.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but do have a few more questions :)

How are these stamps made/used? I don't know anything about stamping CP soap. Do you have a link to the site or company you found but pricing wasnt good on?

Magic Hands stamp is super cute.. love the idea.

Thank you for the reply Magic  I look into both of those. Here is a brief tutorial on how to do this on Brambleberry. Depending on the ingredients you have used, you want to stamp them before they cure all the way but not too soon after unmolding them for the best affect. http://www.brambleberry.com/Stamps.aspx

Thanks magic_hands I've been thinking about getting our little windmill logo made into a stamp. Yes, we have an old stone farmhouse, on top of a hill in the middle of a wind farm, it's not nearly as bad as it sounds......most of the time........!!

Magic Hands,
I looked at the website for where you got yours, which material did you have yours made of? Copper, magnesium or other substance? Also, do you mind saying about how much you paid for it? Thank you in advance for your answer :D

Britsoaper, that sounds really cool, actually - and I think the windmill would make a great stamp!

The stamp I got is magnesium, 3/4", wood mounted. I honestly don't recall at all how much I paid for it - it was eight years ago or so. The good news is that it's held up all this time, so whatever I paid it was worth it.

I heard of making your own stamp out of fimo clay. I thought that was so clever and of course economical. Has anyone done that?

Not used the fimo clay yet but the soap stamps from milky way are made out of resin. I still have some casting resin so I might play around with it. I need to get some more molding supplies though, you can mold pretty much anything you want.

thanks Becca... curious how you might go about mounting it too... what kind of adhesive do you think would work best ?
Also you say you used resin... the only resin I know is the mix two things liquid kind. Is there something else I am not aware of?

The resin you buy at lowes or other stores is not hard enough to make a stamp with. I bought Casting resin online from that's also where I bought my molding supplies. It's not cheap, but I use it maily for casting resin bird skull necklaces for my etsy shop so for me it's cost effective. You can mount the stamps on woodblocks (Michaels has good ones) using the resin from lowes, it will bond the two. Super glue or wood glue wont really hold well.

There are places that will make you custom soap stamps with your logo on them out of metal that will last you a lifetime, so that's worth looking into.

I will get some pictures up soon :)
