I need an expert opinion. I am considering a soap recipe with 45% coconut oil, 45% beef tallow, and 10% safflower oil. Is there any obvious problems with this combo?

That's a lot of coconut and I believe safflower oil has a short shelf life. Why no olive?

I experimented with some different oils also about almost 2 weeks ago I made a soap with 1/3 lard, 1/3 grapeseed oil and 1/3 groundnut oil and it took really long to get solid when it cures in 2 more weeks I will test it out for bubbles and stuff

Soapbuddy,
I am just a neophyte so I am only on my second batch. My first batch was 100% tallow so this is really "branching out" for me. From what I have read, coconut oil is God's gift to soapmaking. While I have read a lot about castille soap, I still don't have a great sense of olive oil's great advantage in soap. I would love some enlightenment!

You guys are awesome! I appreciate all of the insight and info. It makes me want to make a batch after work today.

Soapbuddy, I don't have any butters....yet. I am just a newbie. But it is now on my list of "things to try".
